A Note from Lefti's Creator
Three years ago, I became chronically ill. I had never picked up a crochet hook or knitting needle before, but learning to craft became a small sliver of light in a very dark time. It was something that reminded me I could still grow, still learn — that even if my body had limits, my mind and hands could still create something beautiful. My first project was a sunflower blanket that still feels almost magical — a source of comfort and safety when I wrap myself in it.
Since then, my crafting journey has come a long way. As you might have guessed from the name, I'm a Lefti! Being left-handed has made learning new skills a unique challenge. Watching right-handed tutorials always felt like trying to decode hieroglyphics. It fascinated me how simply flipping a perspective could make everything click — so that's how Lefti was born.
The first time I mirrored a tutorial, I could practically hear my brain sigh in relief — finally, it all made sense! From there, I added tools to save tutorials, bookmark favorite moments, and make learning smoother.
A friend recently met a lady at a knitting workshop who said, "I could never learn to crochet because I'm left-handed." That broke my heart. Crochet brought so much light into my life, and everyone deserves the chance to feel that joy.
So here she is — a little hobby project that grew into something more. Made for me, my friends, and now you. Because learning should never feel backwards for anyone.
Love from,
Lauren x.
Our Mission
Lefti exists to eliminate the learning barrier faced by left-handed people when following learning tutorials.
We believe that learning should feel natural and accessible to everyone, regardless of their handedness. By providing real-time video mirroring and comprehensive tutorial organization tools, we're making hands-on learning more inclusive and effective for all the lefties out there.
The Learning Barrier
Most YouTube tutorials are created by right-handed instructors, creating a significant learning barrier for left-handed learners:
Left-handed learners must mentally mirror every instruction, technique, and movement, making learning exhausting and error-prone.
Trying to follow right-handed techniques feels backwards and unnatural, leading to frustration and giving up on projects.
Very few tutorials are specifically made for left-handed learners, severely limiting learning opportunities.
Hours are spent interpreting skills that right-handed learners can pick up directly and naturally.
Our Solution
Real-Time Video Mirroring
Lefti flips YouTube tutorials horizontally in real-time, making right-handed tutorials appear as if they were made for left-handed people. This eliminates the cognitive overhead of mental mirroring and allows natural learning flow.
Toggle the flip switch to instantly mirror any YouTube tutorial horizontally without affecting video quality.
Automatically detects when flipping is needed based on user and tutorial handedness preferences.
Organize tutorials with custom titles, notes, categories, and timestamps for better learning management.
Works for both left-handed users learning from right-handed tutorials and right-handed users learning from left-handed tutorials.
Our Impact
👈 Left-Handed Learners
